Chris Isaac Larnder
a few words about myself..
In 2001, I and my co-founder Juan Pablo Di Lelle kicked off the new millenium by founding Montreal ACM SIGGRAPH. I chaired the Founding Committee during our founding year and served a busy 2-year term as the first chair of the officially-chartered chapter. I continue to contribute to the chapter as Treasurer, as well as by developing event concepts and writing text for our web site.
I spent about 10 years in the Montreal computer graphics industry, building physics simulation software for 3D environments used in training, engineering, virtual reality applications, cinematic special effects and interactive entertainment.
I am currently a faculty member at John Abbott College, located on the western tip of the Montreal island. I teach and carry out research in the Physics Department.
The ongoing computing revolution is continuing to transform our society, our relationships and even our personal identity. There is a shifting in some of our basic notions, such as the boundaries between human and machine, or between the real and the imaginary. My Imaginary Numbers project is an online collection of essays that attempt to make sense of some small part of this paradigm shift by finding the common ground that emerging technologies share with existing artistic, scientific, philosophical and cultural traditions.
