Mission
We are the Montreal chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH, the ACM Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques. We are a volunteer-based non-profit scientific and professional society serving researchers, professionals and artists in the Montreal area who are involved in the fields of computer graphics and interactive techniques. This includes 2D and 3D graphics, multimedia, visualization and simulation, video games, and virtual and augmented reality, as well as artistic applications of the former.
ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapters form a global network within the ACM SIGGRAPH community, each providing a geographically localized focus of activities and exchanges and contributing to the enthusiasm, creative energy and high standards of the SIGGRAPH annual conference.
The people and the organizations in the Montreal area who are involved in these fields form a unique and exciting community, both in terms of technology and of culture. Our goal is to strengthen this community by providing frequent opportunities for both formal and informal communication among its members.
Read about the establishment of the chapter during its founding year and the founding committee that made it happen. There is also a 2004 article about us published in the Computer Graphics Quarterly.
Montreal ACM SIGGRAPH members have been actively involved in the organization of every SIGGRAPH conference of this century, as well as the last conference of the previous one:
