Annual General Meeting and Elections

Now is the time to nominate individuals to run our chapter for next year. If there is somebody you know that you feel should be involved in setting the future directions of the chapter, then nominate them. If you are interested, then find a friend to nominate you. These are the people that will be representing the Montreal computer graphics community, and determining the program of events for the upcoming year, so choose them well, and know who they are! We try to keep a balance of academic, industry, artistic and student representation on the committees: there is room for a wide range of people and levels of experience, so don't be shy to present yourself or a friend!

This year, the position of chair (Eric Paquette) is opened. After 6 years leading the chapter, Eric will now concentrate its efforts on deploying a new web platform for the chapter and he will also work on the web committee at the international level of ACM SIGGRAPH. At the vice-chair position, Olivier Munger will continue with the second year of its mandate. Our treasurer, Frédéric Tessier, will also continue to help the chapter with the second year of its mandate. The position of secretary (Christian Beauchesne) will be opened.  The webmaster position will be held by Minh Nhat Le for the second year of its mandate. There are also four positions on the administration committee (member at large) and eight positions on the events committee. Chrsitopher Isaac Larnder will continue with the second year of its mandate as member at large. Alexandre Renaud will apply as chair of the chapter, so he might not continue on the second year of its mandate as member at large. As leaving chair, Eric Paquette will begin a two year mandate as member at large as past chair. So there are 1 or 2 opened positions on the administration committee (member at large) and eight positions on the events committee (these are all one year positions). Feel free to nominate for any of the opened positions, this is your chance to join our team.

Voting will take place at the Annual General Meeting (details to be announced shortly). While everyone in the Montreal community is encouraged to attend the AGM, only those who actually are or become members of Montreal ACM SIGGRAPH can vote. Widespread membership and participation in the nomination and election process helps to ensure that the chapter's priorities and image reflect the true realities of the community that it serves and represents.

Finally, we would like to point out that there are also many other ways of getting involved with Montreal ACM SIGGRAPH in the upcoming year: contact us and show up at the AGM, during which we will have time to match your interests to opportunities we might have for you.

Looking forward to your participation!
